Changing Climates explores how visualizations can communicate future climates with interactive displays and responsive environments in a science museum setting.
The immersive dome and app allow individuals to document their experiences and collections; and review previous visits. This experience was co-designed with Leah Tatu and Alexis Boone.

The Problem
How might the design of an interface and immersive experience, empower students to learn about endangered species in the southeast of the United States, in a way that is engaging and organized?

Persona
Ethan Douglas helped us recently when we got off track in this project. He allowed us to empathize and consider the needs of a user. We had to consider the balance of creating an engaging interaction that also isn’t overstimulating, which is how we landed on a modular and glanceable interface. For Ethan, it was essential that the content was organized well and was easily digestible.

Competitive Analysis
Of our competitive analysis, we continued to revisit Arcadia Earth for a successful immersive experience. We enjoyed the mixed media and 360° experience.

The Logo
The Changing Climates logo includes two Cs with different lengths; this reflects the changes we are seeing in our wildlife populations.

Typography
Being in a museum setting, we needed to use a readable sans-serif so it is easy for kids to read.

Color Palette
We use bold and eye-catching colors to create a sense of urgency. We wanted users to feel an urgent need to care about endangered species. We use orange as an actionable color, blue builds trust, and green is associated with environmentalism.
